Mugu- Mugu Village, located at an altitude of around 3,300 meters above sea level, is a stunning Himalayan settlement reached after a two-day trek from the district headquarters, Gamgadhi.
Situated in Ward No. 2 of Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality, the village is believed to be the origin of the district’s name—Mugu. The settlement is inhabited exclusively by Buddhist communities. Due to the extreme winter cold, residents migrate downhill during the colder months.
With about 120 houses and directly connected to the border of China, the village is enriched with cultural and natural beauty. Monasteries, chortens, surrounding Himalayan landscapes, and the Mugu-Karnali River add to its unique spiritual and touristic charm.
