Kathmandu- An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Nepal Police has been arrested in Kathmandu on charges of killing his four-month-old son and attempting to escape following the incident. Police detained ASI Pushkar Karki of Sinamangal from Nagdhunga on Sunday afternoon.
According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Karki was apprehended around 4 pm while trying to flee after allegedly murdering his infant son, Mahir. Kathmandu Police spokesperson SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai confirmed that Karki is now in custody.
Initial police findings indicate that Karki strangled the child inside their rented room in Sinamangal. The baby had been receiving treatment for a brain tumor.
Police said Karki had been in conflict with his wife, police constable Krishna Kunwar, regarding medical decisions related to the child’s treatment. Both are currently stationed at Tribhuvan International Airport.
During the incident, Karki reportedly assaulted his wife, causing injuries. She is being treated at Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj. Authorities said further investigation is underway.
