President Urges Government to Focus Solely on Upcoming HoR Election

Calls for Heightened Security Preparedness Ahead of March 2026 Polls

Kathmandu – President Ramchandra Paudel has advised the government to concentrate fully on conducting the forthcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

While receiving the annual report of the National Security Council for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS at the Office of the President on Sunday, President Paudel stressed that the government should carry out its responsibilities in a manner that does not adversely affect the election process, according to the President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.

On the occasion, the President directed security agencies, including the Nepali Army, to be more proactive and vigilant in addressing security concerns in the lead-up to the polls.

President Paudel also expressed confidence that the National Security Council would function more effectively in the coming days by closely assessing emerging and potential security threats.

Prime Minister and Chairperson of the National Security Council, Sushila Karki, submitted the annual report to the President during the meeting.
