Kathmandu— The filing of candidacies for the election of new leadership is taking place today at the ongoing 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML), according to UML Central Election Commission Chair Dr Bijaya Subba.
The Election Commission made the preliminary voters’ list public on Sunday evening and allowed time for complaints until 9:00 am today. The final voters’ list is scheduled to be published at 10:15 am.
Nomination forms are being distributed from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, while candidates can register their nominations between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The preliminary list of candidates will be released at 2:30 pm.
Complaints regarding candidacies can be lodged from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm today, after which the final list of candidates will be published at 6:00 pm, Dr Subba said.
As per the election schedule, voting will be held on December 16 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, using electronic voting machines.
For the party’s top leadership position, incumbent Chair KP Sharma Oli and senior Vice Chair Ishwar Pokhrel are contesting in the internal election.
