Kathmandu — The Government of Nepal currently holds a cash balance of Rs 202.97 billion in various accounts maintained at Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), according to official data released on Monday.

The figure reflects the government’s financial position as of the first four months of the current fiscal year 2082/83.

NRB data show that the government’s cash balance has increased significantly compared to mid-June 2082, when the total balance in these accounts stood at Rs 130.73 billion.

The amount includes funds deposited across multiple government accounts operated through the central bank. Such balances fluctuate throughout the fiscal year depending on revenue collection, expenditure patterns, debt servicing, and intergovernmental fiscal transfers.

The rise in the cash balance indicates comparatively higher liquidity with the government during the early months of the fiscal year, while large-scale capital expenditure is typically concentrated in the latter half of the year.
