Kathmandu- The government has recommended to the President the issuance of an ordinance related to elections.
According to a minister, a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday decided to forward the recommendation for an election-related ordinance concerning members of the House of Representatives.
As per the proposal submitted to the Cabinet, the ordinance seeks to amend the schedule of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074 BS. The amendment is aimed at determining population percentages of various communities, including Dalit, indigenous nationalities, Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, and Muslim groups, for electoral purposes.
The ordinance will come into effect only after approval and promulgation by the President.
