Kathmandu- The government has accelerated the classification of individuals injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations held on September 8 and 9, aiming to provide livelihood support and monthly financial assistance based on the severity of injuries.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said the process is being carried out in line with the procedure approved by the Council of Ministers on December 8. The classification will determine eligibility for monthly allowances for those injured during the protests.
According to the Secretariat of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, District Administration Offices will submit recommendations on injured individuals, which will then be verified by the Ministry of Health and Population. A technical committee led by the Health Ministry Secretary will carry out the final classification.
The injured will be categorized into four groups: minor, moderate, serious, and very serious. Under the approved provisions, individuals with moderate injuries will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 4,000. Those classified as seriously injured will receive Rs 9,000 per month, while individuals with very serious injuries will be provided a monthly livelihood allowance of Rs 18,000.
The Home Ministry said concerned authorities have been instructed to expedite the classification process so that assistance can be delivered promptly. The classification facilitation committee has confirmed that work is progressing accordingly.
