Janakpurdham- The seven-party ruling alliance in Madhesh Province has agreed to nominate Ram Ashish Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal as the Speaker of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the seven-party alliance held on Friday morning, according to former Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav, who is also the parliamentary party leader of JSP Nepal.
Ram Ashish Yadav, who has been nominated as the Speaker candidate, currently serves as the Chief Whip of JSP Nepal in the Provincial Assembly.
Nominations for the vacant Speaker’s post are scheduled to be filed later today.
Yadav is a second-time directly elected Provincial Assembly member from Dhanusha Constituency No. 2 (B).
The Speaker’s post fell vacant after then Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal was removed from office on November 19 by a two-thirds majority vote of the seven-party alliance, citing charges of conduct unbecoming of the office.
