TU holds its 51st Convocation today; Nobel laureate Kajita Takaaki is the chief guest.

Kirtipur- Tribhuvan University (TU), the oldest university in Nepal, is celebrating its 51st Convocation Day today in Kirtipur.

For the first time, the university has invited a Nobel laureate as the chief guest. Nobel Prize-winning physicist Prof. Kajita Takaaki from Japan is attending the ceremony, according to TU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal. Prof. Kajita won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015.

Vice-Chancellor Aryal stated that all preparations for the convocation had been finalized. Today’s ceremony will officially confer degrees to 16,380 graduates, with around 41,000 attendees, including graduates and their parents.

TU reports that 89,191 students completed their bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees from the university this year. On this occasion, students who achieved top positions in their faculties will receive medals.
