Sindhuli— The body of a 22-year-old man was found with gunshot injuries in Sindhuli district, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashman Tamang of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Bandipur. According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, his body was discovered in the Piuri Khola forest area of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-1.

District Police Office chief SP Laldhwaj Subedi said the body was found with a gunshot wound, but it has not yet been confirmed whether the incident was a murder or the result of a self-inflicted or accidental shooting.

Police said Tamang had gone hunting in the forest, located about three kilometers south of his residence, on Tuesday. His body was later found bleeding from the Navel area.

Following the report, police teams from Police Station Amle, Area Police Office Bastipur, and Area Police Office Khurkot were deployed to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that the bullet had struck the stomach area.

A broken, loaded gun was found near the body. Police also recovered powder, iron pieces, and glass-like fragments suspected to be gunpowder from a bag carried by the deceased.

The body has been sent to Sindhuli Hospital for postmortem examination. SP Subedi said further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the death.
