Kathmandu — The CPN-UML has begun finalizing its candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections by single-recommending the names of its top leaders from various constituencies across the country.
Party Chair KP Sharma Oli has been single-recommended from Jhapa Constituency No. 5, while senior leader Ishwor Pokharel has been unanimously nominated from Kathmandu Constituency No. 5. Vice Chair Bishnu Poudel has been recommended from Rupandehi-2, and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel from Dang-2.
Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta has been single-nominated from Kailali-4, and Secretary Mahesh Basnet from Bhaktapur Constituency No. 2. Senior leader Pradeep Gyawali has been recommended from Gulmi-1.
Several other UML leaders have also been single-recommended, including candidates from Rupandehi, Siraha, Darchula, Salyan, Baitadi, Surkhet, Banke, Kapilvastu, Nawalpur, Kaski, Nuwakot, Rautahat, Mahottari, and Ilam.
The deadline for filing nominations for the direct election to the House of Representatives, scheduled for Falgun 21, is Magh 6. Political parties are expediting internal processes to finalize their candidates ahead of the deadline.
