Kathmandu- Leaders of other political parties will not be invited to the Nepali Congress special general convention scheduled for Poush 27 and 28. The organizers have clarified that the event will be strictly limited to internal party discussions and decision-making.
Manoj Mani Acharya, coordinator of the Special General Convention Management Committee, told Nepal Pulse that the decision was taken to keep the convention focused solely on the Nepali Congress’s internal agenda. “Since this is a purely internal matter and a special general convention of the Nepali Congress, we have decided not to involve leaders of other parties,” Acharya said. “Our priority is to concentrate on the convention’s agenda.”

Acharya said the organizers are still waiting for the party leadership to formally take ownership of the special general convention. “We want the party to recognize and own this program by tomorrow,” he said. “If the party does not come forward, we will ourselves act as the organizers and invite the party president as the chief guest.”
Preparations for show of strength
Alongside internal deliberations, the organizers are also preparing for a significant show of strength during the inaugural session on Poush 27. According to Acharya, the opening session will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm at Bhrikutimandap.
To mobilize cadres and delegates, processions will be taken out from four major locations in the Kathmandu Valley—Kupandol, Sundhara, Ratnapark, and Bagbazar. These processions will converge at Bhrikutimandap and culminate in a mass meeting as part of the inauguration.
The special general convention has been called amid deep internal debate within the Nepali Congress over policy direction, leadership reform, and the party’s future course. While the party establishment has questioned the relevance of the convention, its proponents view it as a decisive forum for internal reflection and transformation.
