Kathmandu- The Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday has taken six major decisions, including recommending the convening of a session of the National Assembly and approving the Financial Sector Development Strategy for 2082/83 to 2086/87.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel, while briefing the media, informed that the Cabinet has decided to recommend to the President to convene the National Assembly session on Magh 4, 2082 BS, at 11:00 am, at Singha Durbar, Federal Parliament Secretariat.
The Cabinet has also approved the Financial Sector Development Strategy (2082/83–2086/87), which aims to strengthen Nepal’s financial system, improve regulatory effectiveness, and enhance financial stability and inclusion.
Similarly, the government has decided to appoint Govinda Prasad Bhandari as the Chairman of Gorkhapatra Sansthan, Nepal’s state-owned media institution.
Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved the National Policy Against Human Trafficking 2082, aimed at preventing human trafficking, protecting victims, and strengthening coordination among government agencies.
The government also approved Nepal’s annual membership contribution of USD 283,503 to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) for the year 2024.
Additionally, the Cabinet has decided to provide USD 350,000 in financial assistance for the reconstruction of the Mahamuni Pagoda Archives and Gangaghat Temple in Myanmar, which were damaged in the March 2025 earthquake.
