According to SEBON, the action was taken against two brokerage companies, one merchant banker, one hydropower company, one insurance company, and 96 listed entities. These companies were found to have breached various regulatory provisions, including failure to submit financial statements on time, non-compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) guidelines, lack of transparency in share allocation, and other regulatory violations.

As per the notice issued by the board, 16 listed companies were fined Rs 100,000 each, while 69 companies were fined Rs 50,000 each. In addition, brokerage companies were fined Rs 5,000 each. SEBON stated that some companies were issued written warnings and corrective instructions instead of monetary penalties, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

SEBON has reiterated that such actions are part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen market discipline, ensure transparency, and protect investors’ interests in Nepal’s capital market.
