Kathmandu — Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun has resigned from his post. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal confirmed Pun’s resignation through a social media post on Monday.
In a Facebook post, Finance Minister Khanal wrote, “Mahabir Pun has resigned to pursue his campaign.”
Following his resignation, Pun has entered the electoral race as an independent candidate. He reached Myagdi after stepping down from the ministerial position and formally registered his candidacy.
Myagdi, Magh 6 — Former Education, Science and Technology Minister Mahabir Pun filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Myagdi constituency on Monday. After resigning from the Cabinet, Pun traveled directly to Myagdi to complete the candidacy registration process.
Pun’s resignation comes amid preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections. His decision to contest as an independent candidate marks a significant political move, drawing attention given his national profile and previous role in the government.
