Kathmandu- A total of 49 candidates contesting the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 have withdrawn their candidacies, the Election Commission has said.
Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the withdrawals were registered within the timeline fixed by the official election schedule. He said the process of candidate nomination, scrutiny, and withdrawal was completed peacefully and in an orderly manner across the country.
According to the Commission, candidates withdrew for various reasons, including party decisions, electoral alliances, personal circumstances, and lack of preparedness for the election. Some candidates also withdrew to support other contestants as part of political adjustments.
The Election Commission stated that the overall election-related activities so far have been conducted in a calm and enthusiastic environment. Following the completion of the withdrawal process, the Commission is set to publish the final list of candidates along with their election symbols in accordance with the election calendar.
