Kathmandu—Gold and silver prices surged sharply on Wednesday, setting new all-time records in the domestic market. The sharp rise reflects continued strength in the international bullion market and growing investor demand for precious metals.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations, the price of hallmarked gold has reached Rs 318,800 per tola on Wednesday. This marks a steep increase of Rs 9,500 per tola compared to Tuesday, when gold was traded at Rs 309,300 per tola.

Silver prices have also climbed significantly. On Wednesday, silver is being traded at Rs 7,300 per tola, up from Rs 6,870 per tola a day earlier.

Traders say the sharp rise in local prices is driven by record-breaking rates in the international market. According to international media reports, gold is trading at around USD 5,200 per ounce globally, while silver has reached approximately USD 111 per ounce.

Market analysts note that global economic uncertainty, expectations of interest rate adjustments, and increased demand for safe-haven assets have pushed precious metal prices to unprecedented levels, with the impact clearly reflected in Nepal’s domestic market as well.
