Rs 19.15 Billion Approved for Election Management, Rs 6.31 Billion Released So Far

Finance Ministry says budget disbursement being carried out in phases for transparent and timely election preparation

Kathmandu — The Ministry of Finance has approved resource consent worth Rs 19.15 billion for the management of elections to the House of Representatives and the National Assembly in the current fiscal year 2082/83. Of the total approved amount, Rs 6.31 billion has been released so far.

According to the ministry, the process of providing resource consent and releasing the budget is being carried out in phases to ensure that election preparations are timely, systematic, and transparent. The ministry said funds have been allocated to various election-related bodies based on actual requirements.

The Election Commission has received the largest share of the approved resources. The ministry provided resource consent of Rs 4.96 billion to the commission on Kartik 18 and an additional Rs 1.77 billion on Poush 20. A total of Rs 6.31 billion has already been released to the commission through these two instalments.

In view of election security, the National Investigation Department was granted resource consent of Rs 28 million on Kartik 13. Similarly, the Nepal Army received resource approval of Rs 4.425 billion on Mangsir 28 for the purchase of election-related equipment, along with an additional Rs 1.94 billion on Poush 20 for election expense management.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been provided resource consent amounting to Rs 10.39348 billion for expenses related to the House of Representatives elections.

Likewise, the Ministry of Finance has informed that resource consent of Rs 431.79 million has been granted to the Election Commission for the management of elections to the National Assembly members.
