Kathmandu — President Ram Chandra Poudel has granted formal approval for the mobilization of the Nepal Army to ensure security during the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for 21 Falgun.

According to Pradeep Kumar Koirala, spokesperson for the Office of the President, the approval was issued following the recommendation submitted by the Council of Ministers. With this decision, the Nepal Army will now be deployed alongside other security agencies to maintain peace, prevent potential security threats, and ensure the smooth conduct of the election process across the country.

The government had proposed the mobilization citing the need for a coordinated security arrangement to safeguard polling stations, transportation of ballot materials, and general election operations. The President’s endorsement marks one of the key administrative steps required before the army can be formally deployed.

Officials have stated that detailed security plans will be executed in coordination with the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local security bodies to create a conducive environment for voters to participate freely and safely.

Further updates regarding deployment strategies and security preparations are expected from the Ministry of Home Affairs in the coming weeks.
