Who Are the Newly Appointed Ministers of Sushila Cabinet?

Kathmandu– Four newly appointed ministers have taken the oath of office and secrecy today, further expanding Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s cabinet. President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath to the appointees at a ceremony held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.

The four ministers were appointed on the recommendation of Prime Minister Karki and assumed responsibilities immediately following the ceremony.

Newly Appointed Ministers and Their Portfolios

1. Shraddha Shrestha – Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens
   Shraddha Shrestha has been entrusted with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens. She is a senior manager at the Nepal Tourism Board and serves as the National Project Coordinator for the Sustainable Tourism Project, a joint initiative between the Tourism Board and the United Nations. Shrestha has 24 years of experience with the Tourism Board and holds academic credentials in economic development from Michigan State University, USA. She is also a Fulbright Fellow.
2. Madhav Chaulagain – Minister for Forests and Environment
   Madhav Chaulagain will lead the Ministry of Forests and Environment. Chaulagain is a writer and researcher with deep expertise in Karnali’s history, culture, society, and development. He is known for his work in public health and rural development and leads the Karnali Festival discussion campaign.
3. Rajendra Singh Bhandari – Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security
   Rajendra Singh Bhandari has been appointed Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security. A retired Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Bhandari is the founding chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). He is recognized for his contributions to modernizing criminal investigation in Nepal and for his stance against corruption within the police force. Bhandari brings over three decades of service experience, including senior leadership roles, to his new ministerial portfolio.
4. Kumar Ingnam – Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation
   Kumar Ingnam will head the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation. He is a professor at Kathmandu School of Law with over 25 years of academic experience, specializing in criminal law. Ingnam has taught at multiple institutions, published numerous research papers, books, and articles, and served as a visiting professor in several countries.
