Over 160 Afghans Freed from Pakistani Jails Repatriated

Returnees crossed into Afghanistan via Spin Boldak border in Kandahar

Agency- A total of 167 Afghan detainees released from prisons in Pakistan over the past week have safely returned to Afghanistan, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, the individuals had been held in detention for periods ranging from one day to two months. They entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing in southern Kandahar province.

Upon arrival, the returnees were provided with basic assistance at the border and were later transported to their respective home provinces, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, figures released by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs a few months ago show that more than 10,000 Afghan citizens remain incarcerated abroad, with the majority held in Iran and Pakistan.
