Kathmandu- The Nepal Army (NA) has reaffirmed that it fully respected the decisions of the President and the Executive while working to normalize the situation following the Gen Z movement.
In an explanatory article provided to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on Sunday, the NA stated that as a major state institution, it is responsible for facilitating dialogue among stakeholders during crises to prevent situations from worsening.
The Army clarified that although questions were raised about its coordination and dialogue efforts at a critical time, it neither pursued any political agenda nor harbored ambitions of interfering in state power.
“Despite criticisms, the Nepali Army never floated a political agenda. The current situation itself proves our commitment to the democratic system,” the article said.
Reiterating its constitutional role, the NA stressed that it operates strictly under the government, with firm adherence to the letter and spirit of the Constitution, ensuring national unity and national security.
The Army also noted that it merely facilitated efforts to end the political vacuum created during the Gen Z movement, questioning claims of political ambition. “If the NA had political intentions, would the situation be what it is today?” the statement asked.
Calling for objective analysis rather than cursory remarks, the NA said constructive evaluation strengthens all security agencies and serves the national interest.
