Kathmandu, December 21 — The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has launched the ‘Granted Fertilizer Distribution Information System’, a digital platform aimed at making the distribution of subsidized chemical fertilizers more transparent, systematic, and technology-driven.
According to the ministry, the system has been implemented to curb irregularities in fertilizer procurement, sales, and distribution, while enabling farmers to access real-time information from their homes. Through the platform, users can view updated data on fertilizer imports, available stock, and distribution details at any time.
The ministry believes the system will help address long-standing complaints related to favoritism by sellers, overcharging beyond fixed prices, and the sale of fertilizer to unauthorized individuals or institutions.
A key feature of the system is public access to detailed records showing which farmers received fertilizer quotas from specific cooperatives or firms, and in what quantities. Farmers and the general public can access the information via the ministry’s official website (www.moald.gov.np) or directly through the fertilizer management portal (www.fms.moald.gov.np) by selecting their respective local levels.
Ministry Information Officer Mahananda Joshi said cooperatives and firms involved in fertilizer sales are now required to regularly update stock and sales details in the system. He warned that responsibility for data entry lies with sellers, as distribution details will not appear unless uploaded.
The ministry has urged farmers to actively use the digital platform and support government efforts to ensure transparency in fertilizer distribution. Officials expect the system to help curb black marketing and undue influence, ensuring that genuine farmers receive subsidized fertilizer in a timely manner.
