Taplejung: The 73-megawatt Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project has resumed power generation after remaining shut for nearly a month due to technical problems.
Project Administration Chief Karan Gautam said electricity production restarted after rectifying technical issues in the powerhouse and completing necessary maintenance works. According to him, the shutdown was required to address faults detected in key operational components of the project.
Power generation had been halted following technical glitches in the powerhouse and related infrastructure, affecting regular operations. After repairs and system checks, the project has now returned to normal operation and is supplying electricity to the national grid.
The Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project is the largest hydropower project developed so far in Taplejung district. Constructed around two years ago, the electricity generated by the project is connected to the central grid through the Basantapur Sub-Station.
With the resumption of production, the project is expected to contribute steadily to the national power supply during the ongoing dry season.
