Kathmandu — Minister for Communications, Information and Technology, Jagadish Kharel, resigned from his ministerial post to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Kharel submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki to contest the election from the Rashtriya Swatantra party (RSP) although he didnot disclose yet.
Sources within the party have stated that the RSP is planning to field Kharel as its candidate from Lalitpur-2. Following the decision, Kharel has already resign from the post.
As per election laws, ministers are required to resign from executive positions before entering the electoral race. Kharel’s resignation is being seen as part of the party’s broader electoral strategy in Lalitpur.
Further details regarding his candidacy and the RSP’s election campaign are expected to be announced officially soon.
