Kathmandu- Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta has resigned from his post, citing preparations to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections on behalf of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Confirming his resignation to Nepalpulse, Minister Gupta said he has already informed the Prime Minister of his decision. “I have informed the Prime Minister that I will resign. The Prime Minister only needs to arrange the formal process,” Gupta said, adding that he is now fully focused on election preparations.

As per prevailing legal provisions, ministers are required to step down from executive positions before registering their candidacy for elections. Gupta’s resignation comes in line with this requirement.

Bablu Gupta had joined the Sushila Karki-led government as a representative of the Gen-Z generation and was seen as a youth-centric face in the cabinet, particularly in matters related to sports development and youth engagement.

With his resignation, Gupta becomes the latest sitting minister to leave office ahead of the elections, reflecting the growing political activity as parties finalize their candidates and campaign strategies.
