Kathmandu — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has registered candidacies for the House of Representatives elections in 164 constituencies across the country, while uncertainty remains regarding one constituency in Manang.
Party leader and RSP candidate from Kathmandu Constituency No. 8, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, said that the party has successfully completed the candidacy registration process in all constituencies except Manang. According to him, the candidacy of Anil Gurung from Manang could not be registered within the stipulated time, possibly due to confusion or delays while traveling to the election office.
Shrestha stated that the party is reviewing the situation and gathering details on why the Manang candidacy was not registered on time. He indicated that the delay appears to be logistical rather than political.
Meanwhile, RSP Joint General Secretary and Dang-2 candidate Bipin Kumar Acharya informed that women constitute around eight percent of the party’s total candidacies registered nationwide. He said the party has attempted to ensure representation of women across various constituencies.
Several women candidates have already registered their nominations from different parts of the country. Nisha Dangi has filed her candidacy from Jhapa-1, while Indira Rana has been registered from Jhapa-2. Asha Jha and Rubina Acharya have filed from Morang-5 and Morang-6 respectively. Sarin Tamang, also known as Goma Tamang, has registered from Sunsari-1, and Bina Gurung from Kaski-3.
Similarly, Binita Kathayat has registered her candidacy from Jumla-1, Tasi Lama from Humla-1, Komal Gyawali from Kailali-1, and Ashika Tamang from Dhading-1. Ranju Darshana has filed her nomination from Kathmandu-1, Tosima Karki from Lalitpur-3, and Sobita Gautam from Chitwan-3.
In addition, Pushpa Chaudhary has registered her candidacy from Saptari-1, Gauri Kumari Yadav from Mahottari-4, and Nitima Karki from Sarlahi-1.
With candidacy registration completed in most constituencies, the RSP has emerged as one of the parties with near-complete nationwide representation in the upcoming House of Representatives elections, although the final status of the Manang seat remains unresolved.
