Kathmandu- The Supreme Court has refused to release Pradeep Adhikari, the suspended Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), on bail.

A joint bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Shantisingh Thapa on Thursday rejected Adhikari’s bail plea, upholding the earlier order to keep him in custody.

Adhikari had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Special Court, which had directed that he be sent to judicial custody. The Special Court bench comprising Judges Hemant Rawal, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, and Bidur Koirala had issued the remand order.

The case against Adhikari was filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), accusing him of corruption related to the construction of the Nalinchok Heliport in Bhaktapur.

With the Supreme Court declining to grant bail, Adhikari will remain in custody as the corruption case
