Kathmandu- The High Court has ordered the release of Rabi Lamichhane on bail in connection with a cooperative fraud and organised crime case.
A joint bench of Butwal High Court judges Babudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Poudel issued the order on Thursday, directing that Lamichhane be released on bail after reviewing his petition.
Lamichhane had been in judicial custody in Butwal in relation to the Supreme Cooperative fraud case. Although he had deposited the amount determined as embezzled from the cooperative, the Rupandehi District Court bench led by Judge Narayan Sapkota had earlier refused to release him on July 26.
Challenging that decision, Lamichhane filed a petition at the High Court on Bhadra 25, seeking bail. The High Court’s order has now overturned the district court’s ruling, paving the way for his release on bail.
