Kathmandu- The Election Commission has appointed election officers in all seven provinces and established election offices in preparation for the National Assembly member elections scheduled for January 25. District judges have been designated as election officers, according to the Commission.
Election officers named province-wise
According to the Election Commission, district judges have been appointed as election officers in all seven provinces. Bhimraj Prasai has been designated in Koshi Province, Shubhanath Puri in Madhesh Province, Geeta Shrestha in Bagmati Province, Himal Belbase in Gandaki Province, Prakashraj Pandit in Lumbini Province, Deepak Dhakal in Karnali Province, and Bhuvan Singh Thapa in Sudurpaschim Province.
Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that the election offices have already been established in the provinces concerned.
Nineteen seats to fall vacant
The election will be held to fill 19 National Assembly seats that will fall vacant on March 4 following the completion of the current members’ terms.
Detailed election schedule released
As per the election schedule, the voter list will be published on January 3 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Objections and complaints related to the voter list will be reviewed, and the final voter list will be published on January 6 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Nomination, withdrawal, and symbols
Candidate nominations will be registered on January 7 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Complaints against candidates may be filed on January 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Candidates may withdraw their nominations on January 11 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, with the final list of candidates published the same day from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Election symbols will be allocated on January 12 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Polling day
Voting will take place on January 25 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at designated polling centres.
