Kathmandu — Share trader Dipendra Agarwal has been released after a court ordered his release on bail. He was freed on Thursday following a judicial decision in the case related to alleged insider trading in the stock market.

Agarwal had been in custody for the past 10 days.

Arrested on recommendation of Securities Board

A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Agarwal from the Chundevi area of Kathmandu on the recommendation of the Nepal Securities Board.

He was taken into custody on allegations of insider trading involving shares of multiple companies, a violation of securities laws.

Investigation initiated under capital market regulations

According to investigators, the arrest was part of an ongoing probe into irregular activities in the capital market. The Securities Board had forwarded its findings to the police after suspecting misuse of confidential information in share transactions.

With the court’s order, Agarwal has now been released on bail, while the investigation into the alleged insider trading case is expected to continue.
