Kathmandu- The Nepali Congress led by Gagan Thapa has initiated preparations for the upcoming elections by forming key committees, including those responsible for drafting the election manifesto and mobilizing the party organization.
Party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said that the first Central Committee meeting after the special general convention decided to form an election manifesto drafting committee under the leadership of President Gagan Thapa.
Similarly, the meeting also formed an election mobilization committee under the leadership of Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma, signaling the faction’s intent to move forward with election-focused activities despite the ongoing internal dispute.
Chalise added that the party has also decided to immediately begin updating all organizational records, including details of the newly elected leadership and committees.
The rapid formation of election-related committees reflects the Thapa-led faction’s effort to establish functional control of the party while the Election Commission and, potentially, the Supreme Court are expected to play a decisive role in determining the official legitimacy of the rival claims within the Nepali Congress.
