Police Recover 65 Tolas of Gold Stolen from Bouddha Area

Suspect arrested after daylight theft from Rinji Lama’s residence in Kathmandu-6

Kathmandu- Police have recovered 65 tolas of gold that were stolen in broad daylight from a residence near Bouddha Tusal in Kathmandu Metropolitan City–6. The gold was taken from the house of local resident Rinji Lama and has now been seized following the arrest of the suspect involved in the incident.

According to police, the theft occurred at around 1 pm on Tuesday from the fourth floor of Lama’s five-storey house. Jewelry worth more than Rs 14 million was stolen during the incident. Initial investigations revealed that the theft took place when the house was unattended for a short period.

The arrested suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Prem Chaudhary of Banke district. Police said Chaudhary was apprehended on Tuesday after an operation carried out by a team deployed from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, along with the Bouddha Police Circle.

Police officials confirmed that the stolen gold ornaments were recovered following the arrest. During the operation, police had to fire shots to bring the suspect under control before taking him into custody.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police said additional details will be made public after the completion of the inquiry.
