Kathmandu-Jewelry worth more than Rs 14.53 million has been stolen from a house in Bouddha Tusal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–6, after thieves took advantage of an opportunity when the homeowner was busy drying clothes on the roof.

According to SSP Santosh Khadka of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the stolen items include various gold and silver ornaments belonging to Rinji Lama. The theft occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the incident came to light after the homeowner returned from the rooftop, where she had spent about an hour washing and drying clothes. Investigators suspect that the thieves entered the house during that period and fled with the jewelry.

“It has been reported that around one hour was spent on the roof drying clothes. The theft appears to have taken place during that time. An investigation is underway,” SSP Khadka told Online News.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, along with the Bouddha Police Circle and the District Police Range, Kathmandu, has initiated a detailed investigation into the incident. Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and locate those involved.
