Kathmandu-The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has clarified that rumors of a cooking gas (LPG) shortage in the market are baseless, stating that the current supply of gas is exceeding demand. The corporation has urged consumers not to hoard gas cylinders unnecessarily, warning that such behavior could create artificial pressure in the market.

NOC Executive Director Dr. Chandika Prasad Bhatta shared data showing that Nepal’s average daily demand stands at around 90 bullets, equivalent to approximately 114,000 cylinders. He said that in recent days, the Indian Oil Corporation has been supplying gas in quantities significantly higher than this demand.

According to Dr. Bhatta, 118 bullets, or about 149,500 cylinders, were loaded last Saturday. On Monday, 115 bullets, or around 145,000 cylinders, were supplied, while on Tuesday the figure rose to 132 bullets, amounting to approximately 167,300 cylinders.

He informed that some of the loaded gas consignments have already entered Nepal, while others are currently in transit. Based on this, the corporation has assured that the supply of cooking gas will remain regular and sufficient throughout the upcoming election period.

Emphasizing that there is no difficulty in the supply system, Dr. Bhatta appealed to the public not to store gas cylinders at home out of fear of a possible shortage. The corporation reiterated that unnecessary hoarding could disrupt the market despite adequate supply and urged consumers to remain assured that there is no risk of disruption in cooking gas availability.
