Kathmandu– Nepal suffered a defeat against Sri Lanka in their opening match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup Cricket, played at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Friday.
After losing the toss, Nepal was invited to bat first but failed to build a competitive total, getting bowled out for 82 runs in 28.5 overs. Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominated throughout the innings, restricting Nepal from forming any substantial partnerships.
In response, Sri Lanka comfortably chased the modest target, scoring 83 runs in 14.5 overs while losing only two wickets to seal the victory.
Nepal, placed in Group B, will play their next match against Bangladesh on Monday. The tournament, which began on December 12, features eight teams including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, host UAE, and Malaysia.
