Kathmandu — Nabil Bank Limited has emerged as the highest profit-earning commercial bank in the country, posting a strong growth in earnings in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.
According to the unaudited financial statements published by the bank, its net profit increased by 46.71 percent, reaching Rs 4.75 billion during the review period. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, the bank had earned a net profit of Rs 3.24 billion.
During the review period, the bank’s net interest income increased by 2.42 percent, while net fee and commission income rose by 6.61 percent. A major factor behind the sharp rise in profit was the reversal of an impairment charge amounting to Rs 48.8 million, which significantly boosted overall earnings.
As of mid-March, Nabil Bank’s total operating income increased by 5.58 percent, while operating profit recorded a notable growth of 26.95 percent, reflecting improved operational efficiency.
The bank’s distributable profit during the period stood at Rs 3.273 billion, with distributable earnings per share fixed at Rs 22.50. Along with higher profits, the bank’s earnings per share (EPS) also saw a substantial rise, increasing by Rs 11.6 to reach Rs 35.4.
According to the financial statements, Nabil Bank’s net worth per share stands at Rs 235.64, while its price-earnings ratio has been recorded at 13.91 times.
