Kathmandu- After several consecutive days of decline, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) made a strong recovery on Thursday, the final trading day of the week. The benchmark index rose by 27.19 points to close at 2,708.70 points.
Along with the index, trading activity also improved. After daily turnover hovered around Rs 10 billion last week and weakened at the beginning of this week, total transaction volume climbed to Rs 11.58 billion on Thursday. According to NEPSE, more than 35.5 million shares were traded during the session.
Out of the traded companies, share prices of 201 companies increased, while 55 declined and four remained unchanged. On the gainers’ side, Kalinchowk Darshan, Super My Hydro, and Modi Energy recorded notable price increases. Shares of Ridi Power Company and Khanikhola Hydropower also posted similar gains.
However, Supermadi Hydropower suffered the biggest loss of the day, with its share price dropping by 9.98 percent. Other declining stocks recorded losses of up to 6.25 percent.
In terms of turnover, Union Hydro led the market with transactions worth Rs 580 million. It was followed by Radhi Vidyut with Rs 570 million, SY Panel with Rs 530 million, Akhukhola Hydropower with Rs 400 million, and NRN Infrastructure and Development with Rs 380 million.
NEPSE opened trading at 2,681.13 points on Thursday. Despite fluctuations during the session, the market ended on a positive note. All sectoral sub-indices closed in the green, except for the trading sub-index, which remained negative.
