Kathmandu — The Nepali Congress has submitted its closed list of candidates for the proportional representation (PR) system for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to the Election Commission.
The party submitted the list late on Tuesday after a delay caused by the Election Commission’s failure to immediately recognize the digital signature of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba. Following the issue, Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel submitted the names of 110 candidates to the Commission on behalf of the party after 11:30 pm.
The Election Commission had fixed December 13 and 14 as the deadline for political parties to submit their PR candidate lists.
According to party sources, the Congress has excluded lawmakers elected under the proportional system in 2064 BS from the new closed list. Province-wise, the list includes 18 candidates from Koshi, 21 from Madhesh, 22 from Bagmati, 11 from Gandaki, 17 from Lumbini, 10 from Karnali, and 10 from Sudurpaschim.
