Pokhara — Durga Prasai, president of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign, Nepal, has been arrested from Pokhara.

Medical practitioner and royalist activist Prasai was taken into custody on Monday, according to security officials. The arrest follows a police complaint filed by the Election Commission after Prasai publicly accused the Commission of accepting large sums of money to legitimize a faction within the Nepali Congress led by Gagan Thapa.

Following his remarks, the Election Commission lodged a formal complaint, leading to his arrest.

The District Administration Office, Kaski, confirmed that preparations are underway to transfer Prasai to Kathmandu for further legal proceedings.

In recent months, Prasai had issued repeated warnings of election boycotts while putting forward various political demands. However, on Magh 2, his group reached an agreement with the government.

After the agreement was signed at Singha Durbar, Prasai-led campaign temporarily suspended all protest programs.
