Kathmandu- Nepal Police has opened applications for the recruitment of 133,980 personnel as Election Police for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21.
The Human Resource Development Department of Nepal Police issued a public notice on Thursday, calling on eligible Nepali citizens to apply for the large-scale recruitment drive. According to the notice, applications will be accepted from Friday until Magh 1, including on public holidays.
District-level selection mechanism
As per the notice, a district-level selection committee will be formed in each district under the coordination of the Chief District Officer (CDO), with representation from relevant security agencies. This committee will be responsible for the recruitment and selection process.
Previously known as temporary police, the force has been formally designated as Election Police for the first time.
Eligibility criteria and priority groups
To be eligible, applicants must be Nepali citizens aged between 18 and 54 years. Priority will be given to former security personnel, individuals who served as temporary police in previous elections, those retired from the security forces of neighboring countries, and candidates who have already passed physical and medical tests conducted by security agencies, provided they submit valid application forms.
Applicants must not have any criminal convictions or records involving moral turpitude.
Training, deployment, and benefits
Selected candidates will undergo 10 days of mandatory training. Following the training, they will be deployed for approximately one month during the election period. Election Police personnel will receive remuneration equivalent to that of a Nepal Police constable, covering a total of 40 days’ salary.

In addition, they will be provided with uniforms, a four-day lunch allowance, preparation allowances, and rations similar to those received by Nepal Police personnel. Ration provisions will vary depending on the district of deployment.
