Kathmandu — The Council of Ministers meeting held on December 11 approved 19 major decisions, including the endorsement of the National Policy Against Human Trafficking, 2082, and a recommendation to convene a session of the National Assembly.
Announcing the cabinet decisions, Interim Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel said the government has decided to recommend to the President to convene a session of the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament at 11:00 am on Magh 4, 2082, at the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Singha Durbar.
Among the key decisions, the cabinet approved the National Policy Against Human Trafficking, 2082, aiming to strengthen prevention, protection, prosecution, and rehabilitation mechanisms related to human trafficking and smuggling.
The cabinet also approved the Financial Sector Development Strategy 2082/83–2086/87, outlining long-term reforms for Nepal’s financial system.
As part of administrative decisions, the government approved the transfer of eight gazetted first-class officers of the Nepal Judicial Service (Law Group) and promoted eight gazetted second-class officers to gazetted first class in the respective group.
Several approvals were granted for ministers and senior officials to participate in international meetings and conferences, including agriculture, labor, finance, health, tourism, election observation, and border trade cooperation.
The cabinet also approved financial assistance of USD 350,000 for the reconstruction of the Mahamuni Phaya (Buddhist pagoda) archives and Gangaghat Temple in Myanmar, which were damaged by the March 2025 earthquake.
Additionally, the government endorsed principles for drafting a bill related to the rights and development of Dalits, approved the restructuring of land revenue and survey offices in multiple districts, and made several key appointments.
